Abstract

The growing concern about the abuse of coastal resources and the adverse effects caused by their exploitation have led countries to take measures to combat the consequences of null or deficient management. Currently, our country is subscribed to several international agreements to prevent marine pollution and protect ocean biodiversity. Although it lacks an integrated coastal management plan, it has a large number of laws that regulate activities related to its coasts and oceans. In this article we will analyze, with the help of the ICZM Decalogue proposed by Barragán (2001; 2004), Mexico’s actions with respect to the integrated coastal management of its extensive marine territory.
